ODDBOB'S CORNER (Thursday Feb.10, 2005)

AND MY LAST BIT OF DWEEB-MISSIVE'ING FOR THE DAY (LEST YOU THOUGHT WE HAD FINALLY OUTRUN OUR ODDBOB):

The Top 10 Things Not to Do at a Science Fiction Convention
10> Wear white storm trooper armor after Labor Day.

9> Ask an author to sign your cleavage: Most science fiction writers would rather not touch your man-boobs.

8> Turn up sporting a light saber *and* a Klingon forehead.

7> Filk outside of the carefully marked filking zones.

6> At the registration desk, answer every question with, "I'm sorry, I can't do that, Dave."

5> Get drunk and wander out into the street dressed as a Klingon.

4> Yell "Captain Kirk was the worst Star Wars character ever!" And then stand still.

3> Enter the costume contest as the exhumed corpse of Gene Roddenberry, with realistic scent.

2> Remember, no SF con nookie until you've determined the sex of the alien!

and the Number 1 Thing Not to Do at a Science Fiction Convention...

1> Hit on the Hot Green Chick. I don't care if you're "better looking than the average SF geek." She's really tired of it. Just. Don't.

Souvenir Magazine for Revenge of the Sith
In April, IDG Entertainment, publisher of Star Wars Insider magazine, will carry on a tradition that began in movie theaters back in the summer of 1977. Star Wars souvenir guides, which began as theater concession stand items back in the days of the classic trilogy, are back for Episode III with the Revenge of the Sith Collector's Guide.

Inside this highly collectible program you'll find behind-the-scenes information you won't find anywhere else, including interviews with the cast and crew, and exclusive photos. You will also encounter detailed character biographies, descriptions of vehicles and aliens, sneak peeks of the new heroes and villains, and much more.

The Episode III Collector's Guide is a far cry from the first thin programs sold in 1977, which were a mix of color and black and white imagery scattered in with a few character bios and scene descriptions. In the wake of the film's huge success, a second printing was required which came bound in a new "pebble-tone" textured cover. The first version, which was printed on a slicker stock, is now hotly sought out by collectors.

For Empire, publisher Paradise Press recognized the need for extended coverage of the hotly anticipated sequel, so offered a much richer guide than what had been doled out for the first film. The Empire Strikes Back Official Collectors Edition swelled to over three times the size of the Star Wars version, with a great deal of focus on the magic and engineering that went into the making of the film.

For Jedi, Paradise Press was able to hit the ground running with their Return of the Jedi Official Collectors Edition, matching the size and scope of its predecessor. The Jedi souvenir guide was the first to be sold primarily through retail outlets outside the theater level.

For Episode I, Topps thickened the Official Souvenir Magazine to include extensive coverage of the film and its makers, including a peek at the licensing of the film and its soundtrack. The cover marked a diversion from previous editions with an all new chrome image of the release poster artwork.

A domestic souvenir guide for Episode II wasn't in the cards, but that didn't stop countries like Japan, France, England, and others from printing up lavish programs for international Star Wars fans. These typically are richly illustrated with art and stills, since the look of Star Wars films has become one of its most powerful international assets.

For Episode III, IDG has put together a fantastic souvenir guide that promises to surpass all others, and carry on a tradition that began 28 years ago. If you plan to get only ONE souvenir for Revenge of the Sith... this is the one! EDITOR'S NOTE: WELL ALRIGHTY, THEN!

AND LET'S HAVE AN EXTRA "!!!!" FOR EMPHASIS. !!!!

FIRST CONTACT DVD Features Goldsmith Tribute
Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that the upcoming 2-disc edition of the eighth STAR TREK feature film, FIRST CONTACT, will be released on March 15th, 2005, and will contain among its plethora of features a special tribute to long-time TREK composer Jerry Goldsmith. EDITOR'S NOTE: THIS ALMOST....BUT MAYBE NOT QUITE...MAKES IT WORTH OWNING THE DVD. (ALTHOUGH, NOW THAT I'M THINKING ABOUT IT, THIS MOVIE DIDN'T REALLY STINK LIKE THE LAST FEW ONES DID). The DVD set will contain a new audio commentary from actor/director Jonathan Frakes and screenwriters Brannon Braga and Ronald D. Moore and a textual commentary by Michael and Denise Okuda.

The bonus disk for the DVD set will include a number of featurettes, including "The STAR TREK Universe" (a collection of programs which includes the Goldsmith tribute as well as “The Legacy of Zefram Cochrane" and "First Contact: The Possibilities"), "The Borg Collective" (featuring "Unimatrix One", "The Queen" and "Design Matrix"), "FIRST CONTACT Production" (featuring "The Story", "The Missile Silo", "The Deflector Dish", "From "A" to "E", "Making FIRST CONTACT" and "The Art of FIRST CONTACT"), "Scene Deconstruction" (featuring "Borg Queen Assembly", "Escape Pod Launch" and "Borg Queen's Demise"), extensive storyboards, a production gallery, and the film's theatrical teaser and trailer.

No deleted scenes will be include this time EDITOR'S NOTE: WELL POO.

Elfman Debuts Symphonic Concert
On February 23rd, Danny Elfman will make his debut as a symphonic concert work composer.

The 30 minute piece is entitled Serenada Schizophrana and is described by the American Composers Orchestra (who will perform the premiere performance at Carnegie Hall) as a "symphonic tour-de-force bringing audiences into the composer's radical and highly anticipated compositional shift to a new musical realm." EDITOR'S NOTE: YES, BUT CAN YOU HUM IT LEAVING THE THEATER?

In a comment, the orchestra's music director Steven Sloane said that "America's greatest musical influence around the globe has been through the work of Hollywood composers. That was true during Hollywood's golden age and it remains so today. In the early 21st century, with the great breakdown of the walls that divide the musical landscape, it makes sense for us to do what we can to encourage film composers to stretch themselves musically, just as we do for all the composers we commission. I can think of nobody with a fresher musical imagination than Danny Elfman. I don't know what to expect, and I can't wait!"

Elfman's Serenada Schizophrana is scored for large orchestra, electronics, two pianos, and female voices. EDITOR'S NOTE: SOUNDS FUN!

'Hairspray' heading to Las Vegas
Another Broadway show is heading west.

This time, it's the musical "Hairspray," the eight-time Tony Award winner that will move into its own theater at the Luxor hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

"This is a big one," show producer Myron Martin told The Associated Press on Thursday. "This is such a beautiful fit for Vegas."

"Hairspray" is slated to open in late November at the pyramid-shaped Luxor, Martin said. The original will remain in New York City. The production will cost about $12 million, Martin said. A spot opened up at the Luxor after the Blue Man Group decided to move up the street to The Venetian megaresort. The deal had been in the works for about a year, Martin said. The Las Vegas version of "Hairspray" will be a 90-minute, intermission-less version of the show. The Broadway production runs more than two hours EDITOR'S NOTE: KINDA SAD/SCARY WHEN THEY HAVE TO DUMB-DOWN A SHOW THAT WASN'T TERRIBLY BRIGHT TO BEGIN WITH. MAYBE IF THEY PUT FLUORIDE IN THE WATER, THEY COULD UP THE IQ A TAD?

AND SPEAKING OF IQ LAPSES.....

Survey: Users confuse search results, ads
Only 1 in 6 users of Internet search engines can tell the difference between unbiased search results and paid advertisements, a new survey finds. EDITOR'S NOTE: WOW. AS IT TURNS OUT, THERE REALLY IS A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE. (NOT THE MINUTES WE WERE BORN, OF COURSE.....BUT ALL THE OTHER MINUTES).

The Pew Internet and American Life Project reported Sunday that adults online in the United States are generally naive when it comes to how search engines work. The major search engines all return a mix of regular results, based solely on relevance to the search terms entered, and sponsored links, for which a Web site had paid money to get displayed more prominently.

Caan & Duvall Pulled Back in by "Godfather
THR is reporting that James Caan and Robert Duvall will join the late Marlon Brando in providing voice acting and likenesses for Electronic Arts' "The Godfather" video game.
They will reprise their respective roles as Sonny Corleone and Tom Hagen from the film. There will be a premiere unveiling of the game in New York's Little Italy on Feb. 10, 2005. EA also secured the rights to Nino Rota'a score. EDITOR'S NOTE: I GUESS WE SHOULD ASSUME THAT BRANDO ALREADY LAID DOWN HIS TRACKS? CAUSE OTHERWISE, I'M THINKING THAT IS GOING TO BE ONE HECK OF A PHONE PATCH TO RECORD HIS STUFF.....

EDITOR'S NOTE: I THINK I MIGHT ORDER MINE DIRECT FROM THE STORE THIS TIME. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN AT THE MIDNIGHT RELEASE PARTY, I THINK I'D LIKE TO PICK UP MY COPY AT THE SAME TIME.

Amazon also said that it will be shipping the books so they arrive on the release day, July 16th.

HP gets nine nominations at the Saturn Awards

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban leads nominations in the 31st Annual Saturn Awards announced by The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films.

POA is up for Best Picture (Fantasy), Best Director (Alfonso Cuaron) and Best Writer (Steve Kloves). Daniel Radcliffe also received a nomination for Best Performance By A Younger Actor. EDITOR'S NOTE: I'LL HAVE A FULL LIST OF SATURN AWARD NOMS COMING UP SHORTLY.....FYI.....

RUPERT GRINT TALKS
All of his friends will tell you that Rupert Grint is a charming boy; his sole fault is a tendency to be lazy. This explains why he hasn't even finished reading Order of the Phoenix! Rupert is not as conscientious as some when it comes to acting, and he continues to show that to us... EDITOR'S NOTE: HEY...CUT HIM SOME SLACK. HE'S JUST A KID, RIGHT?

For quite a while, you've had longer hair than usual. What motivated you to change your look?

Nothing at all; it's just my natural laziness! [laughs] After Prisoner of Azkaban shooting, I was simply too lazy to go to the hairdresser. When the producers saw my new cut, they demanded that I keep it for Goblet of Fire. They thought that it was similar to Ron's personality. This decision is fine with me, since I never was fond of cutting my hair!

Daniel Radcliffe hates to see himself on-screen. Do you?

No, not at all. I'll go and watch past films easily enough. For example, I watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone a bit ago and found it quite entertaining! To see my younger self didn't really disturb me. The only thing I thought was a bit strange was hearing my voice before it changed. I found that rather unbearable! [laughs]

If you could play another character in the Harry Potter universe, who would you choose?

Malfoy! I like the mean characters in movies and it would have been a pleasure to play him! It also must be inspiring to have millions of fans that hate you! [laughs]

And, usually, which type of roles would you like to play in the movies?

I would very much like to play the roles that are the opposite of that of Ron. Roles of crazy people like serial killers, for example. [laughs] But I think I might be too young for that.

What would you like to happen to Ron in the next Harry Potter book?

I hope that he finally plays Quidditch! Dan [Radcliffe] often tells me that the Quidditch scenes are very difficult to shoot, but I don't care! Quidditch looks so cool on screen. According to something I heard, Ron plays Quidditch in The Order of the Phoenix, so if I am in that film, I will at last be able to prove my abilities in this sport! EDITOR'S NOTE: 'IF' YOU ARE IN THAT FILM? OH PLEASE SAY THAT YOU WILL BE?!

You said, "according to something I heard." So you haven't read Order of the Phoenix?

Well...I tried, but didn't finish. At the moment, I'm only on the third chapter. I'm quite lazy, as I think you already realized. [laugh]

What do you think will happen in regard to Ron's love life?

Everyone expects that Ron and Hermione will go out, but I don't think that would be an effective finish. I must say that this idea doesn't delight me... At the moment, I have no desire to play the romantic scenes. I already had a lot of trouble with certain scenes in Prisoner of Azkaban in which I had to hold Emma's hand, then be embarrassed.EDITOR'S NOTE: AWWW...HE'S SHY......

Which actor would you like to see in a future Harry Potter movie?

Mike Myers! I am an Austin Powers fan and I would love to play some scenes with him. Nevertheless, I do not think that that day will ever come, since only English actors are allowed to be in the films. There are not American actors!

Is it true that, to get the role of Ron, you disguised yourself as a girl at the audition?

Not completely. It's true that before the audition we had to send a K7 video to the casting director. In order to try and stand out, I chose to dress up as a girl. I put on a skirt, I put on make-up, and I improvised a rap in front of the movie camera... [laughs] This delirium was worth it for me to be able to advance to the next audition; they were testing for nerves.

It seems as though you aren't an assiduous student in school.

There is some truth in that statement. [laughs] I don't like school, which makes it easier for me not to do my homework. Evidently, my professors aren't very happy. And being in the Harry Potter movies doesn't give me any special treatment. For example, when I returned to school after Prisoner of Azkaban shooting, I had several hours of glue because I hadn't done my schoolwork. EDITOR'S NOTE: SEVERAL HOURS OF 'GLUE'? HUH?

Have you always wanted to be an actor?

No. When I was younger, I dreamed of becoming an icecream man. But it should be said that that job doesn't give you many options. [laughs] If I wasn't an actor, I'd love to be a designer. Drawing is one of my favorite pastimes. I love animated movies and TV shows, especially Spongebob.

Harry Potter dies at age 98
A 98-year-old Florida man named Harry Potter died last Saturday.

Apparently, when the HP books began gaining in popularity, Harry started getting stares from restaurant waitresses when they read his name on the seating list. Soon, book-toting parents began knocking on his door, asking him to sign autographs for their children. And he answered many late-night phone calls from people wanting to know whether he was the Harry Potter.''A lot of people would get irritated by something like that, but not him. He always got a good chuckle out of it,'' his daughter said.

HP spoof gets US Army in trouble with JKR's reps
A Harry Potter comic parody that was published in a US Army publication is being investigated by JK Rowling's representatives, who were likely tipped off about the publication after HPANA posted scans a few days ago.

Preventative Maintenance (or PS) Monthly is a free guide to keeping military equipment in working order distributed to 80,000 army personnel in the US.

The comic book has been an army tradition for more than 50 years. Its editor defended the use of the characters, saying "they are a good way to get personnel to read the publication."Parodies are protected under the first amendment in the US under the "fair use" clause as long as it is done for "humorous or satirical effect". EDITOR'S NOTE: LOOK...IT'S ONE THING IF YOU TICK OFF THE WHOLE DURN WORLD AND MESS WITH LARGE POPULATIONS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE. BUT WE REALLY MUST MUST MUST DRAW THE LINE AT FUTZING WITH JKR HERSELF. I MEAN, REALLY!

Kissing rumors 'utter rubbish'
Put down those pitchforks: Warner Brothers have assured us that the reports that Harry and Cho would kiss in the Goblet of Fire movie are "beyond bizarre and utter rubbish." That applies to the Hermione and Krum rumor as well.

MOVIE Dweebing

Paramount Finds A "Treasure's Trove"
Paramount has picked up feature film rights to Michael Stadther's bestselling children's, "A Treasure's Trove," for a mid-six figures sum.

Cruise/Wagner will produce for the studio.

The story centers on 12 forest creatures who employ a woodcarver, his half-elf wife and their winged pet to save their friends who disappear after being crystallized by falling dust. EDITOR'S NOTE: I SURE WISH THEY'D START USING THEIR IMAGINATIONS AND WRITE STUFF THAT'S MORE FANTASTICAL EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE.

The book has created quite the sensation over the clues in the story that lead to a dozen gold tokens hidden in public places in the U.S. and are redeemable for jewels worth a total of $1 million. The author hid the tokens himself and insists they can be accessed without digging, moving or disturbing objects or structures. No one has yet found one of the gold tokens. EDITOR'S NOTE: SO THE WHOLE WOODCARVER/HALF-ELF/WINGEDPET/CRYSTALMETH THING IS JUST REALLY SECONDARY TO APPEALING TO PEOPLE'S GREED.

AND SOMETHING FOR MISS B......
Cusack Signs "Contract"
Thesp Joins Freeman in Thriller

John Cusack will star with Morgan Freeman in Millennium Films' "The Contract." The script was written by Stephen Katz and John Darrouzet. Bruce Beresford is directing the thriller.

The story revolves around a family outing that turns deadly when a grandfather, son and grandson stumble across the path of a hired killer. EDITOR'S NOTE: OF COURSE, THE UPSIDE WAS THE HIRED KILLER BROUGHT MARSHMALLOWS, SO THE CAMPFIRE WAS WAY IMPROVED.

Millennium Films' Avi Lerner and Emmett/Furla Productions' Randy Emmett and George Furla will produce the film.

EDITOR'S NOTE: GRATUITOUS CUSAK PIC FOR MISS B. YOUR QOTD LOVES YA, BABY!

EDITOR'S NOTE: YEAH....PROBABLY BEST NOT TO TRY TO FIGHT COUSIN STEVIE. EVEN HIS BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE IS BETTER THAN MOST PEOPLE'S GOOD ONES.

Set to open on July 24th is Michael Bay's sci-fi film "The Island."

"Super" Mom Discusses Upcoming Role
Though the plot of Bryan Singer's SUPERMAN is being kept under tight wraps Eva Marie Saint talked with IESB about her upcoming role in the film which begins production this March.

Eva is no stranger to Hollywood having been part of one of the greatest films of all time, Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest. She began her career over 50 years ago and is about to become the adoptive mother to the one of the greatest super heroes of all time.

Superman starts shooting in early March 2005 and is expected to be a triumphant return to Hollywood. Bryan Singer has a talent of casting unknown and known actors to bring you some of the best ensemble casts seen on the big screen.

Before we see Eva Marie Saint become Martha Kent we will see her in the upcoming Fox film Because of Winn Dixie. This weekend we had the opportunity to speak with Eva and we asked her about her upcoming gig in Australia.

Eva said her shoot will be in March and will last for approximately 3 weeks. We can only assume then that the first few scenes must be shot on the Kent farm.

She also acknowledged that she is playing a widow. She is playing the same Martha Kent character that was married to Glenn Fords character, Pa Kent in the first film. This storyline will continue from where Superman 2 left off as previously reported.

Eva Marie Saint expressed her interest for the role. She said she is very excited about the project because her grand kids are thrilled about their grandma being in Superman.
She also mentions that she is trying to convince Bryan Singer to let Superman take Ma Kent flying in the film.

Eva also mentioned that the script is being kept under very close guard. Everything is under very tight security.

AND A BIT MORE SUPERMAN NEWS....
Penn To Play Luthor's Right-Hand

Die Hard 4.0?
Bruce Willis recently talked with BBC Radio. Willis told the BBC that "'Die Hard 4.0' is being written as we speak, and if all goes well we'll be shooting it in Autumn on the east coast of the United States." EDITOR'S NOTE: THIS MAKES ME VERY HAPPY. YOU GUYS CAN HAVE ALL YOUR ARTSY-FARTSY FLICKS. JUST GIVE ME BRUCE WILLIS AND A BUNCH OF LOUD EXPLOSIONS, AND THE QOTD IS SET.

Fox won't allow Willis, who has script approval and will produce via his Cheyenne Production company, to say any more than that.

Bruce Willis is currently in London working on his latest film HOSTAGE.

Logan would pen the project, which is being discussed as a potential directing vehicle for Scorsese.

Kurosawa's film, which was set in postwar Japan, centered on a young criminal who is being treated for tuberculosis by an alcoholic doctorEDITOR'S NOTE: SO....UMM...IT'S AN UPBEAT COMEDY?

Russo to share lead in 'Ours'
Rene Russo has signed on to co-star in the remake of "Yours, Mine and Ours" for Paramount Pictures and MGM. Paramount has set a November release date for the project with MGM handling foreign distribution.

Long sees 'Ghost' role for Col film
Matt Long, who stars as Jack in the WB Network's "Jack & Bobby," is in negotiations to play a younger version of the title character played by Nicolas Cage in Columbia Pictures' "Ghost Rider," an adaptation of the Marvel Comics title.

The movie stars Cage as a former motorcycle stuntman named Johnny Blaze who agrees to let his body become host to a vengeful spirit EDITOR'S NOTE: SO INSTEAD OF WATER-WEIGHT GAIN, THIS WOULD BE...UMM...SULPHER-WEIGHT GAIN? HE AIN'T HEAVY, HE'S MY SATAN? I GOT THE DEVIL IN ME?

"Mangler 3" Crunching Its Way to the Screen
In an interview with "Arrow in the Head" writers, producers and directors Matt Cunningham & Erik Gardner discuss their work on a second sequel to THE MANGLER entitled MANGLER REBORN.

Matt says, they were offered the film. He actually worked for the company that purchased the rights to it and Barry Barnholtz had actually produced the second MANGLER.

He describes the machine as... "It’s kind of this hybrid machine created by Hadley Watson who happens to be a washing machine repairman. He likes to take antique things and put them together. So he tries to put together a new machine that is going to be built from parts of the original Mangler."

And in terms of nudity in the film the Matt said, "Honestly, we’re doing it from a foreign sales standpoint."EDITOR'S NOTE: HONEST, ANYWAY. Erick elaborated by noting that "from a horror movie fan standpoint, I think that kind of stuff doesn’t make your movie better.

Unfortunately we most likely will need it but fortunately I won’t be the one telling the actress to take off her top." EDITOR'S NOTE: WHICH ABSOLVES YOU?

The MANAGLER series is based on a short story by Stephen King and the original film was directed horror master Tobe Hooper.

"Love at Second Bite"
Tony Thomopoulos and George Hamilton have hired David Steinberg to rewrite "Love at Second Bite," the sequel & update to "Love at First Bite," which was released in '78.

THIS IN FROM DWEEB-CORRESPONDANT PLANO-KEVIN:
'Star Trek: Enterprise' to End in May
After four years, the mission is over for "Star Trek: Enterprise."

The prequel to the original "Star Trek" science fiction series will air its final episode May 13, UPN and Paramount Network Television announced Wednesday.

The series will get a send-off that "salutes its contributions to the network and satisfies its loyal viewers," said UPN Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff. She didn't disclose details.

"Star Trek: Enterprise" debuted in September 2001. Scott Bakula stars as Capt. Jonathan Archer, along with John Billingsley, Jolene Blalock, Dominic Keating, Anthony Montgomery, Linda Park and Connor Trinneer. EDITOR'S NOTE: ON THE ONE HAND, I'M SAD. I ACTUALLY RATHER LIKE THE SHOW. MOSTLY FOR THE NEAT CHEMISTRY OF THE CAST. (THEY ARE MUCH LESS CONTRIVED AND SEEM MORE NATURAL TOGETHER THAN SOME OF THE PREVIOUS CASTS).

ON THE OTHER HAND, THIS FREES UP CONNOR TRINNEER TO COME TO HOUSTON AND DATE ME.

SO IT ISN'T ALL BAD NEWS.......

The series has been sold into rerun syndication in most of the country and is set for debut this fall.

Its end means that, for the first time in 18 years, no first-run "Star Trek" series will be airing. The franchise included "Star Trek" (1966-69, NBC); "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987-94, syndicated); "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1992-99, syndicated); "Star Trek: Voyager" (1995-2001, UPN); and "Star Trek: Enterprise."

"Star Trek" movies also have been released. EDITOR'S NOTE: MUCH AS WE'VE TRIED TO GET THEM TO STOP.....

While bidding a warm goodbye to "Star Trek: Enterprise," the studio hinted at more "Star Trek" to come.

"We all look forward to a new chapter of this enduring franchise in the future," said Paramount Network Television President David Stapf. EDITOR'S NOTE: WHO KNOWS....MAYBE ALL THE CURRENT REGIME WILL DIE, AND NEW PEOPLE....PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY RESPECT THE FANS...MIGHT TAKE OVER THE FRANCHISE.

STRANGER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED.....

The series will focus on criminal lab technician/serial killer Dexter Morgan. Morgan is "a highly respected lab technician for the Miami Dade Police Department specializing in blood spatter,EDITOR'S NOTE: AND WEREN'T HIS PARENTS PROUD WHEN HE TOLD THEM ABOUT HIS COLLEGE MAJOR?! is a handsome, polite man who also happens to be a sociopathic serial killer that commits occasional dismemberment. EDITOR'S NOTE: WELL, AS LONG AS IT'S ONLY OCCASIONAL.....But with the help of his foster father, a pragmatic police officer, the orphan Morgan learns to channel his drive, killing only people who deserve to die." Paging Daryl Hannah
Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. TV is looking to bring a high-concept show about a mermaid to the small screen. The untitled drama/fantasy project is about a mermaid who attempts to live on dry land in Miami.

Brad Kern created the show and will executive produce along with Aaron Spelling and Executive Producer/Writer E. Duke Vincent.

This not, of course, connected to Touchstone Television's "Splash, Too," the made for TV movie from 1988 in which Amy Yasbeck and Todd Waring took over the roles of Madison (Bauer) and Allen Bauer -- so there is hope for this new project. EDITOR'S NOTE: SOMETIMES, THEY DON'T EVEN NEED MY HELP WITH THE SNARK.

DESPERATE Chinlund
THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK's Nick Chinlund has landed a recurring role on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. He'll play Detective Sullivan, a police detective who is investigating the death of Christine Estabrook's character. Chinlund's first episode is set to air on February 20.
