"Constantine's" Reeves Gets Star Treatment
Keanu Reeves, 40, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today for his career that includes such films as "Speed" and the "Matrix" series.

His star was placed along Hollywood Boulevard near the spot where some action scenes in "Speed" were filmed.

His newest film "Constantine," adapted from the DC Comics series, will be released in about two weeks. In the film he plays a man, with visions of angels and devils on Earth, who battles to dispatch demons back to the underworld. EDITOR'S NOTE: APART FROM COMMENTING ON THE FACT THAT IF I WERE A DEMON...AND NO, BOB, I'M NOT....I WOULDN'T BE ALL THAT WORRIED THAT KEANU WAS AFTER ME..... WELL, APART FROM THAT COMMENT, I HAVE VERY LITTLE TO ADD TO THE KEANU-GETS-A-STAR NEWS. THE END IS NEAR, PARTY DOWN?

And Speaking of the MOUSE-HOUSE

Disney to name a new CEO by June
ORLANDO -- Walt Disney Co. chairman George Mitchell said Tuesday that the media and theme park company's board was on track to name a successor to chief executive Michael Eisner by June.

Disney's board stripped Eisner of his chairman title following last year's annual meeting after a strong protest of his stewardship. He has said he plans to leave the CEO post in September 2006 when his contract expires
."We are committed to announcing our decision no later than this June," Mitchell
told analysts at a meeting here. "There has been no prior determination. There
are no preconditions."
EDITOR'S NOTE: WELL, EXCEPT FOR THE WILLINGNESS TO WEAR THE MOUSE-EARS 24-7, AND TO HAVE WALT'S VISAGE TATTOOED ON YOUR DERRIERE. BUT OTHER THAN THAT.......
Mitchell added that the entire board is engaged in the search.

Many investors increasingly see Bob Iger, Disney's president, as a shoo-in, given a turnaround at the ABC network."
There is no reason for the board not to give the job to Bob Iger," said Disney
shareholder Jack Liebau of Liebau Asset Management. "If Bob Iger were named CEO that would certainly make a gradual transition easier for the company."EDITOR'S NOTE: I'M KINDA HURT NO ONE HAS EVEN ASKED ME TO APPLY. I MEAN, I'M PERFECT. I'M SEMI-UNEMPLOYED, AND I'M WILLING TO LIVE AT ANY OR ALL OF THE DISNEY THEME PARKS. OH, AND I'M PERSONAL FRIENDS WITH TIGGER. WHAT MORE COULD THEY WANT?!
That could leave a lengthy transition period if Eisner stayed until the end of his contract.

Asked about a transition plan, Mitchell told Reuters, "We won't know that until we select the person. We will develop a transition plan that will depend in part on who the successor is."EDITOR'S NOTE: AND THEN EISNER SUDDENLY DISAPPEARS IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT, WITH ONLY GLIMPSES OCCASIONALLY CAUGHT OF HIM AS A 'HITCHHIKER' ON THE HAUNTED MANSION RIDE, AND AS PEOPLE ARE WAITING IN LINE AT THE TOWER OF TERROR.

A Narnia Update

Peek Through the Wardrobe into Narnia
Here's an advance look at the filming of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."

Who wants to know about a movie that's still almost a year away from the silver screen? A movie that's still filming – and still making casting announcements?

Well, in the case of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," not scheduled for release until December 2005, the answer seems to be just about everyone. Normally, few would care about a movie that isn't expected until next holiday season – we're still reeling from all the eating and shopping and frantic hurry of LAST holiday season! But "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" is looking to be no ordinary movie, and Internet fan sites are buzzing – both movie portals and sites devoted to fans of the books.

Based on the first book in what might be the most beloved series in all of children's literature, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" is shaping up to be a spectacular film experience in every sense of the word.

Filming on location halfway around the world in New Zealand, EDITOR'S NOTE: LIKE THAT'S NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE?! with a roster of fantastic creatures to be created to populate the world of Narnia, and concept art so lovely that it's staggering to look at "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" is already whipping up a storm of interest.

Devoted Narnia fans are flocking to the film's official Web site. It's a cornucopia of information about the film and C.S. Lewis' immortal books that inspired it. There's a timeline of Narnia history, synopses of the seven novels, even a trivia quiz. It's also the spot where visitors can sign up to receive a Narnia newsletter, with regular updates to tide them over until the movie is ready for release.

"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" finds four British children stumbling upon a magical world, Narnia, during a game of indoor hide-and-seek. They learn that Narnia is in the grip of never-ending winter, and are enlisted to help free the land from the tyranny of the evil White Witch. The children will be played by British newcomers, but Narnia will be populated with noted actors as well: the White Witch will be played with panache by Tilda Swinton, and it was just recently announced that the magical lion Aslan will have the voice of Brian Cox (you might have seen him in "X2" or "The Bourne Supremacy").

At the helm is Andrew Adamson, the director of the two "Shrek" movies.

There are seven books in all in "The Chronicles of Narnia," so we suspect this won't be the last film to visit the enchanted land beyond the wardrobe ... but we'll have to wait and see.

Nightcrawler Comments on Change of X-MEN Director
Alan Cumming was very honest when he was asked to comment on the change of director in the X-MEN movie franchise.

The actor, who played Nightcrawler in X2, told Sci Fi Wire that he's not disappointed that Bryan Singer won't be directing the thrid installment of the franchise. "
I think he's really talented, and I'm really proud of the film—I think it's a
great film—but I didn't enjoy working with him on it."
EDITOR'S NOTE: OUCH.
Cumming said that he doesn't know who will follow in Singer's footsteps, but that he was scheduled to start filming in June, a date he doubts will hold firm

"Dead" Director Gets "Life"
"Shaun of the Dead" co-writer and director Edgar Wright is in negotiations to direct "Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life" for Universal Pictures. Eric Gitter and Marc Platt Productions' Marc Platt will produce.

The story centers on a young slacker who meets the woman of his dreams but finds that he can win her only by first battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends. EDITOR'S NOTE: SO IT'S QUITE CLOSELY BASED ON REALITY!? The project is based on the graphic novel by Bryan Lee O'Malley.

Weisz stars with Hugh Jackman EDITOR'S NOTE: SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE, SUCH A PRETTY CAST!in the story of a search for the fountain of youth over centuries.

Weisz said of her director,

"... you probably know from his movies that he gets very, very raw, very
emotional performances from his actors, and when he does that it's incredible."
She also added, "He shoots a lot of film. He keeps the camera rolling and
doesn't cut. He keeps it rolling and just throws something out."

EDITOR'S NOTE: THANK HEAVENS FOR EDITORS, HUH?

The Wednesday TV News

McFarlane hopes Fox gets TWISTED TALES
Network order pilot episode
Comic book superstar artist and toy manufacturer Todd McFarlane has a new TV project in development inspired by his line of TWISTED TALES action figures. McFarlane would host a half-hour anthology show in the same vein as THE TWILIGHT ZONE, with its stories taking place in the realms of science fiction, fantasy or horror. McFarlane himself would host the series if it ever reaches the air. EDITOR'S NOTE: UMM...YEAH. CAUSE ANTHOLOGY SHOWS HAVE DONE SO WELL IN THE PAST? NOT.

THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN producer Don Murphy is executive producing the project, via his Angry Films production banner, along with McFarlane, Terry Fitzgerald, Rick Benattar, Susan Montford and Trey Callaway. Callaway, the screenwriter of I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, is writing the series bible and a pilot script for Fox Television.

THE X-FILES Meets THE EXORCIST
Paul Scheuring, the creator of the FOX pilot PRISON BREAK, will be producing another pilot for FOX's 2005-06 season. The series is described as THE X-FILES meets THE EXORCIST and features a hard-living priest EDITOR'S NOTE: EXCUSE ME. 'HARD-LIVING PRIEST'? IS THAT.....UMM...KOSHER? who partners with a female doctor to investigate unexplained religious phenomena. The working title for the series is BRIAR & GRAVES. LOST on the Move
Hit TV series LOST may be shooting elsewhere than Hawaii since it seems that the state may close a loophole in its tax laws.

Film and television productions have been taking advantage of a 100 % tax credit Hawaii offers for high-tech businesses. It seems that citizens and the Hawaiian government feel that the biz is misusing the credit and cheating the state out of millions of dollars. It is unknown yet where the show would move if the law is changed, but Louisiana, New Mexico and the Carolinas are all rumored to be potential states where LOST could shoot.EDITOR'S NOTE: IF THEY SHOOT IN LOUISIANA IT BECOMES MORE LIKE A LOCAL DOCUMENTARY. *EXCEPT FOR THE ARTICULATE DIALOGUE. SNICKER.

Sackheim To Helm "Night Stalker
Variety reports that veteran "X-Files" director Dan Sackheim has been hired to direct Frank Spotnitz's ABC drama pilot "The Night Stalker."

"Spotnitz said he and Sackheimer are going for a 'very contemporary, sleek and scary look,' adding 'Night Stalker' will have "a style very much its own." He also promised a number of visual tricks, but declined to talk specifics."

"Night Stalker" is a reworking and updating of them mid '70's ABC cult favorite "Kolchak: The Night Stalker." Carl Kolchak uncovered mysteries involving vampires, serial killers and other freakish occurrences. EDITOR'S NOTE: I MISS "THE X-FILES". WE COULD USE SOME INTELLIGENT, CREEPING OUT, PARANOIA ON TV AGAIN.

Bruckheimer Gives Hackford "E-Ring"
Taylor Hackford and Jerry Bruckheimer are teaming up for the Warner Bros. TV pilot "E-Ring."

The show was created by David McKenna and Ken Robinson. McKenna actually approached Hackford about the project.

The show will center on "the action arm of the Pentagon" and the "life inside the most impenetrable building in Washington and what really goes on during wartime."

Described as "The West Wing" set at the Pentagon, "E-Ring" focuses on the fight for America's safety revealed through the inner workings of the U.S. military headquarters.

Created by David McKenna and Ken Robinson, the pilot was written by McKenna, who is exec producing with Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman. Robinson is producing.

Hackford is reaping accolades for "Ray," which took 13 years to make in the face of repeated rejection by studios. EDITOR'S NOTE: LET'S HOPE THEY DO A BIT MORE JUDICIOUS EDITING ON THE PILOT FOR THIS, THAN THEY DID WITH "RAY". AHEM.....

Set Preview: "Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire"
Posted: Friday January 28th, 2005 11:11pm
Location: Leavesden Studios, United Kingdom
Author: Garth Franklin

The "Harry Potter" franchise is now like a well-oiled machine. There may be different people steering the ship, but all the deckhands and important sailors are always there and know their work like the back of their hands. This is one of the most important film franchises in history and no studio or person involved wants to deliver a sub-standard product, rather they're driven to deliver a better job out of the gate everytime.

That looks like it's happening with this adaptation of the fourth book in J.K. Rowling's popular children's novels series.

I got to visit Leavesden Studios in the UK back in October last year where "Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire" was in production and let me just say wow. I was there the year before on the "Azkaban" set which, when we were there, looked great and hinted at an impressive new direction for the series under the eye of Alfonso Cuaron.

However what I saw on "Goblet" simply floored me. "Azkaban" for all its magic is a dark and intimate little story. "Goblet" on the other hand is an action epic of a size that makes the last "Spider-Man" movie seem small.

Concerns have been raised over the hiring of British Director Mike Newell to take on the big chair but from what I saw there he and the team have done an amazing job. The Triwizard tournament tasks, the Death Eaters, the Dark Mark, the World Cup, the Yule Ball sequence, etc. All of these scenes have taken paths and looks I had not expected. Sequences in books rarely tend to live up to imagination on screen but this is one of the few times I think it's the other way around. Fans will go absolutely nuts over it all and even those who've never been fully into Potter - this will be the big crossover film. It's the biggest, boldest, most fun and epic yet. EDITOR'S NOTE: GIGGLING AND DROOLING, PART 73.

In this fourth film, Harry attends the International Quidditch Cup with Hermione, Ron, and the Weasleys where festivities are marred by a dark violent incident which hints at more doom to come. Upoon returning to Hogwarts, excitement grows about a mysterious event involving two other rival schools of magic, and a competition that will test its players to the limit. Along the way he has his first crush, finds out more about his past and witnesses the rebirth of a terrifying enemy.

In coming months leading up to the film's November 18th release date, I'll be giving you a multi-part online set report complete with assorted cast and crew interviews talking about the production and what was involved to ready this movie for release. Along the way there'll be chats with the producer, the creature effects people, the costume designers, and three of the young cast who play competitors in the Triwizard tournament. Expect more, soon. EDITOR'S NOTE: CAN'T WAIT!

Fans pay homage at Harry Potter's grave

Many of you have been sending in this story about fans paying homage at the grave of a British soldier named Harry Potter who died in 1939. The local council has added the grave to its official tourist guide and is planning to begin a historical investigation in to the soldier's death
