Harry Potter Smidgeons

EDITOR'S NOTE: STRAYING (BRIEFLY AND SOMEWHAT RELUCTANTLY) FROM THE STAR WARS THANG FOR JUST A MOMENT OR TWO.....

HBP audio edition all ears for July 16th
We previously reported that the UK audio edition of Half-Blood Prince would be released on August 25th.

However, we now know that it will be on sale in the US and Canada on July 16th along with the book. Narrated by Jim Dale, the story will run more than 21 hours. It will contain 18 CDs (costing $75) or 12 cassettes (costing $50). EDITOR'S NOTE: OR WAIT A WEE BIT FOR THE USED VERSION AT HALF PRICE OR ON AMAZON. (HINT HINT)

P.S. SOAPBOX ALERT! SOAPBOX ALERT! READ THE BOOK THE OLD-FASHIONED WAY FIRST. BUT YOU DO YOURSELF A HARRY POTTER-DISSERVICE NOT TO ALSO LISTEN TO THE UNABRIDGED JIM DALE TAPES. (THANK YOU DWEEBPAL ANDREW FOR TURNING ME ON TO THAT!) THEY ARE WONDERFUL, AND ADD A WHOLE DIMENSION OR TWO TO THE HP EXPERIENCE.

Martial arts in GOF movie
According to Brazilian newspaper
Folha de Sao Paulo, a Capoeira fighter will appear in the GOF movie. (Capoeira is a "dance-like" Brazilian martial art.)

The article says Ponciano Almeida, 25, has filmed a fight in Hogwarts, though he has no lines.

Almeida has apparently been living in London for the last four years, and told the newspaper that his apperance is quite big. "I don't want to create expectations because I don't know what will be cut in the final edition," he said.

Amazon: 700,000 pre-orders so far
In its quarterley earnings report, Amazon.com announced that it has already received over 700,000 pre-orders for the sixth book. EDITOR'S NOTE: AND I HAVEN'T EVEN GOTTEN IN LINE YET! (TO PRE-ORDER AMAZON OR BORDERS? DECISIONS, DECISIONS....)

Prestigious liberal arts college gets Hogwarts-ified
We're really not sure what their motivation was for putting this slideshow together, but these were apparently taken at Wellesley College in Massachussetts. EDITOR'S NOTE: SORT OF LIKE THE HOGWARTS VERSION OF 'KILROY WAS HERE'. ALL OVER CAMPUS, IT APPEARS. FUNNY STUFF. CHECK IT OUT:

Well the Wellsley page is taking too freaking long to load, so without actually seeing it, I'd just like to say I am NOT impressed and I threw my own Hogwarts party for my entire college my senior year and everybody came. So there.
