Star Wars, newsy stuff

Revenge Now #10
According to Boxofficemojo.com, Revenge of the Sith has made it to #10 all time box office domestic ranking with $358,606,000 in gross ticket sales.

It's #19 in worldwide releases, but that will improved pretty dramatically when it opens in Japan next month. EDITOR'S NOTE: NOT THAT SIZE MATTERS...AHEM....BUT SPECULATION IS THAT ROTS WILL PEAK AT AROUND $375 MILLION FOR THE US. (LET'S GET OUT THERE IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS AND DO OUR PART FOR UNCLE GEORGE, DARNIT!!! I, FOR ONE, AM READY TO SEE IT A TIME OR TWO MORE BEFORE IT LEAVES THE CINEPLEX, EH?)

Dark Side MMs Leaving, But Coming Back
Johnny Miller was wondering about them and asked Mars:

Ok I talked with guys at MM’s and they said the dark side mms will be back for the DVD release, they also said although they stopped producing and distributing the dark side MMs , you can still find them at non grocery stores that still have supplies.. Walgreen’s, maybe Target, and such smaller drug stores, still have many bags left… so of course my wife cleaned everyone out and we now have a nice supply to watch our movies with.
EDITOR'S NOTE: SO THESE WERE JUST A SPECIAL STAR WARS THING? I THOUGHT THEY WERE INTRODUCING A NEW, PERMANENT PRODUCT AND JUST TYING INTO ROTS TO LAUNCH. (HOPE THEY THINK ABOUT PUTTING THEM INTO THE REGULAR LINE-UP. THEN AGAIN, THINKING ABOUT THE DIET, MAYBE I DON'T).

Lucas bash puts center on S.F. map
SAN FRANCISCO -- George Lucas unveiled the newest planet in the Lucasfilm Ltd. solar system Saturday when the filmmaker welcomed guests to the opening of the new Letterman Digital Arts Center. A ritzy lawn party and outdoor concert attracted 2,000 prominent locals that included two California senators, two San Francisco mayors and a roster of rock stars. EDITOR’S NOTE: OUR INVITES MUST HAVE GOTTEN LOST IN HYPERSPACE, EH?

Lucas' new $35 million digital arts center is located at the Presidio, a 23-acre national park overlooking the San Francisco Bay. The development unites three Lucas businesses on six acres in four low-rise office park buildings comprising 865,000 feet of business space. The environmentally sustainable state-of-the-art digital arts campus was designed by landscape architect Lawrence Halprin.

The inaugural party saw such political luminaries as Sen. Barbara Boxer, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and former Mayor Willie Brown all pay tribute to Lucas' pioneering spirit

Churchgoers Explore The Force
From BBC News:

The force is strong among a group of West Yorkshire parishioners who held a special service on Sunday to celebrate the release of Star Wars Episode III.

The service at St Cuthbert's in Wrose, Bradford, came after children in the church explored the movie's ideas.

"We wanted a special service to bring these themes together and celebrate the victory of good over evil," said the Reverend Paul Walker. EDITOR'S NOTE: I GUESS HE MEANS THE EVENTUAL VICTORY OF GOOD OVER EVIL. CAUSE ROTS ISN'T GOING TO SEND THAT MESSAGE, EH?

The service also included a hymn sung to the John Williams Star Wars theme. It was written by the neighbouring vicar of Eccleshill, the reverend John Hartley, who in 2002 wrote a hymn to the tune of Match of the Day.

Mr Walker said themes of good and evil, having the "force" of god in your life and resisting the temptation to evil were all explored at the service on Sunday.

Below are some pictures taken from the fourth and fifth weekends (June 10-12 and June 17-19). EDITOR’S NOTE: INCLUDING SEVERAL DM SHOTS FOR OUR MAUL-OBSESSED ODDBOB. (ODD HE IS, INDEED)

The weekends were so popular that Disney expanded the event by adding two weekends, expanding the event from four consecutive weekends to six.
