Church to Play Chameleon
Development-Hell.com is reporting that Thomas Hayden Church will play the Chameleon in SPIDER-MAN 3.
The Chameleon has the ability to mimic anyone's face and voice. His most deadly weapon is his devious mind. Loathing physical confrontations, the Chameleon usually gets someone else to do his dirty work.
As reported on their site:
A source close to the production of Spider-Man 3 confirmed for me that the main villain played by Mr. Thomas Hayden Church will in fact be the Chameleon.
Church plays Dmitri Smerdyakov, who goes by false name Dr. Turner at Peter's college. The Chameleon also has a brother in this film, which will set up Kraven the Hunter for a future sequel I'm told.
Guy Pearce makes himself re-appear
Somewhat of a dissapearing act himself lately, Guy Pearce will play Harry Houdini in a new film from Gillian Armstrong.
"Death Defying Acts" will team Pearce and Rachel Weisz ["The Mummy"] as master magic-man Houdini and the woman he dove into the sack with whilst touring Scotland.
The film, set in 1926, will be penned by Tony Grisoni and Brian Ward, and starts shooting in 2006.
Pearce has been kicking back for a while - his only recent film being the cute but hardly victorious "Two Brothers" - but seems he's ready to jump back into the fickle world of film again.
His next film, "The Proposition, is quite good actually. Hitting the Multiplexes in September, it's best described as Part 'Rabbit Proof Fence', Part 'Young Guns', but mostly the unique vision of proficient singer-songwriter turned screenwriter Nick Cave. It's is a captivating western yarn filled with absorbing multi-faceted characters and an in-your-face splashing of action that’ll leave it’s mark even after the curtains have closed. Though Pearce and co-star Emily Watson give fine performances in their own right, it’s really Ray Winstone who’ll be remembered here at the end of the day - giving a a memorable, stirring and highly authentic turn as a lawman that hides his full-scale empathy deep below the surface of the badge.
Aside from "Death Defying Acts", Pearce has also signed onto a couple of other equally interesting projects. He's playing Andy Warhol in "Factory Girl", and also a lock for "Dangerous Parking", about a British film director.
Harlin heads to The Covenant
Renny Harlin's had a pretty rotten twelve months, what with "Exorcist : The Beginning" flopping and "Mindhunters" essentially dumped, but his next flick sounds reasonably intriguing.
According to Production Weekly, Harlin has signed to do adaptation of the graphic novel "The Covenant".
J.S Cardone's script fixes on four families whose patriarchs wield a vast eldritch power - a power that has been passed down from father to son for generations. We're introduced, in the film, to the book's main characters Caleb, Pogue, Reid and Miller as they discover they're next in line to receive the power of the Covenant. The story begins with the lads fooling around with their powers and later having to use them to do battle with an evil they've unleashed. EDITOR’S NOTE: SO IT’S LIKE A MALE VERSION OF THAT BIMBO-WITCH SHOW “CHARMED”?
The film begins it's shoot in Montreal this October.
The Final Four 007 Contenders
Sounds like we're getting a tad closer to finding out which lucky sod's about to get endless Martinis, a top-of-the-range Aston Martin and an impending threesome.
The Telegraph and Commander Bond are reporting that the 007 contenders have been whittled down to four. Yep, just four. EDITOR’S NOTE: RAISE YOUR HANDS IF YOU GIVE A RATS BOTTOM ANY MORE?"
The list has been whittled down to four," says a source.
"The auditions have reached their most important stage: how the actors fare in the sack. So stand-in Bond girls have been hired to act out select love scenes from past Bond films with the final four actors."
Commander Bond say the report sounds pretty spot-on, because Casino Royale director Martin Campbell has just arrived in London for two weeks. No doubt, he's checking out the final four contenders.
Those rumoured to be up for the gig include Ioan Gruffudd, Julian McMahon, Alex O'Lachlan, and Daniel Craig. EDITOR’S NOTE: WHATEVER….
On Ya Bike, Matt!
Several sites, including Coming Soon, The Telegraph and Elites are reporting that Oscar Winner Matt Damon might be about to cycle into a biopic on Cyclist Lance Armstrong.
According to Coming Soon, Men's Journal talked to the U.S. Cyclist - who won his seventh straight Tour de France on Sunday - who revealed that Damon's keen on playing him in a movie.
"I've had the chance to get to know Matt Damon. He is a fan of cycling and has a connection to cancer. He has even expressed an interest in the role," Armstrong said in the magazine.
According to The Telegraph, Scott Silver has been asked by Sony Pictures to do for Armstrong's life what he did for the rapper Eminem in "8 Mile".
Armstrong is most famous for recovering from cancer to subsequently win the Tour de France a record six consecutive times—1999 to 2004. His success prompted some to nickname the event Tour de Lance.
Trek making First Contact with Australia?
The Enterprise might be docking Down Under.
According to TrekWeb, the next "Star Trek" film, a prequel to the events of TV's "Enterprise", might be setting up shop in Australia.
The Premier of South Australia has apparently been in talks with Paramount about lending their fair state to Starfleet.
"Mr Rann had been with Paramount Pictures executives at a dinner in Adelaide the day before our convention," Stuart Blair, President of the United Federation of Planets Fan Club of South Australia told Star Trek Magazine.
Another attendee of the convention had some extra bits to share, including when the next film would be set. "2010 to be exact. A time when the Earth has been almost destroyed by nuclear war, when our saviours from the future arrive", she says. "The story is to be set over two movies. As to who will star nothing was said, but it was inferred that Spock was a must. But if they are bringing help from the future it leaves it open to star any and all of the STAR TREK casts from all the shows."
"Star Trek XI" scribe Erik Jendresen recently told SyFy Portal that the film would take place before the days of Captain James T.Kirk. "We're going [roughly 80] years before Kirk. It's an earlier time, and I think it would be really refreshing to feel something in the course of telling this tale, instead of being wowed by special effects, or presenting another crew in jeopardy where, in the end, the captain does something brilliant and all's right with the world". EDITOR’S NOTE: YES, YES THAT WOULD BE NEW AND DIFFERENT FOR THE TREK MOVIES. BUT I’M NOT CONFIDENT PARAMOUNT WOULD RECOGNIZE THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO PULL IT OFF IF IT HIT THEM UPSIDE THE HEAD WITH A PLANET.
Aint it Cool also ran a bit recently indicating that the character of Data (Brent Spiner) from TV's "Next Generation" might be involved somehow.
Said Spiner, "Nemesis was supposed to be our maiden voyage, but who can leave such a great franchise that easily. We're all going to do another one, only this time they're going to mix it up a bit - possibly giving Data a commanding role to play; and bringing in some of the folks from Enterprise and some of the other great spin offs".
Bit of a jigsaw puzzle at the moment, but one thing's for sure - "Trek 11" is coming. EDITOR’S NOTE: SO I HAVE SOMETHING TO LIVE FOR. WOOHOO.
